doTERRA BOGO: Peace & Motivate

Hey friends! I woke up at 5:30 this morning just so I could see the BOGO deals and spread the word before my kids woke up. Well, turns out Noah was already up and talking to himself, but he knows not to get out of bed yet. Anyway, moving on…

Today only if you purchase a doTERRA Peace Touch, you will get a doTERRA Motivate Touch for free! Now their Touch line is amazing. doTERRA’s Touch line is the same essential oil you love, diluted with Fractionated Coconut Oil in a rollerbottle. So it’s great to use for younger kids or for those who may be sensitive to some essential oils.

Peace Touch (Reassuring Blend): This blend consists of Fractionated Coconut Oil, Vetiver, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, Clary Sage, Marjoram, Labdanum Leaf, and Spearmint. I love this oil. I like to use it as a natural perfume because it has an amazing floral woodsy smell to it that is calming and subtle. It provides just what it claims to: peace and reassurance. If you deal with anxious or fearful emotions, just roll this over your pulse points. If the demands of your work day start to overwhelm you, roll this on your wrists and breathe deeply. If your kids seem to be bouncing off the walls at bedtime, roll this on their cute little feet and diffuse it in their bedroom. This is an oil I use often, and it’s one that I like to have in my purse or diaper bag when I’m out of the house.

Motivate Touch (Encouraging Blend): This blend consists of Fractionated Coconut Oil, Peppermint, Clementine, Coriander, Basil, Yuzu, Melissa, Rosemary, and Vanilla Bean Absolute. Y’all if you can’t tell by this lineup, this blend smells amazing. It has a citrusy mint aroma that’s intoxicating. I love using this in the morning to help wake  up and get moving. It can also help promote feelings of confidence and belief, while eliminating feelings of doubt and pessimistic. I like to roll some on before I teach a doTERRA class or step on stage when I’m networking. You’ve got to try it!

This One’s for the Girls: doTERRA Essential Oils for Menstrual Relief

Y’all, I’m just gonna keep it real with this post today. First, here’s a warning to all the men out there: This post is related to women’s issues and hormones. Specifically how doTERRA essential oils can be used to bring relief when you’re on your period. I’m going there today. So hang on tight, you’re in for a fun ride!

Many times I can predict when I’m going to start my period because I notice a few signs: I’m emotional, I tend to breakout a few days before starting, I start getting cramps and back ache, and my craving for chocolate goes through the roof. These issues continue while I’m on my period, and then I feel “normal” again when the week passes. Did you know you can make these week (and the days before) much more manageable by incorporating essential oils throughout the week.

ClaryCalm (Monthly Blend for Women): Does anyone else experience mood swings before their period? I do! I tend to get weepy and irritable before I start my period. Once that happens, I have 2 oils that I turn to. The first one is ClaryCalm. ClaryCalm is a blend of essential oils specifically designed to help women during this time. It consists of Clary Sage, Lavender, Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Geranium, Fennel, Carrot Seed, Palmarose, and Vitex essential oils. The aroma has a pleasant sweet and earthy smell to it. You can start applying it pulse points when you’re hormones seem to be all over the place, and you can apply it over your ovaries if you tend to have a heavy menstruation or cramping. I apply this oil topically right where I’m cramping, and then heat up a heating pad and place it on my stomach as well. The combination provides a lot of relief for me.

Melaleuca: Commonly known as tea tree oil, Melaleuca is known for its cleansing and purifying properties. Melaleuca can help with those blemishes and breakout that tend to happen during this time. I simply rub some on my hand and apply it right on top of the pimple. I like to combine it with the next essential oil that I’m going to highlight.

Frankincense: Frankincense is my favorite essential oil. It is kind of the “all purpose” of the essential oils. During my period, I combine this essential oil with Melaleuca and use for clear my skin because it has great soothing and cleansing effects on your skin. It’s also my second oil of choose to calm my unpredictable emotions. I also like to use it topically for emotional support as well, along with the ClaryCalm.

Grapefruit: This may seem like a random essential oil to use right now, but Grapefruit essential oil can help to curb sugar cravings. I like to put a drop of this oil in my glass of water and continuously drink this to curb those cravings. (Reminder: I only recommend taking doTERRA essential oils internally, and encourage everyone to do their research when purchasing essential oils.) Citrus oils also pair beautifully with frankincense to uplift your mood, and it’s a great diffuser blend. This will help to uplift everyone’s mood during this time!

Deep Blue (Soothing Blend): Deep Blue is a blend of essential oils designed to bring relief to occasional sore muscles or joints. It is made of Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus essential oil. I dilute this essential oil with some doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil, and apply it to my aching back. I also will utilize a heating pad, and use a heating pad on my back after applying this essential oil. The combination of the essential oil and heat is amazing!

Well folks, I hope you found this post helpful. These are my go to oils when I’m on my period, and I’m so glad I found natural solutions to help with this week that creeps up every month. I’d love to hear from you: Do you have another essential oil that you utilize during your period?

DIY: OnGuard Hand Cleansing Spray

I feel like I was just picking my kids up for their last day of school, and now their first day of school is quickly approaching. We were getting my oldest son’s back to school supplies this past weekend, and do you know what was on the list? Hand gels. Yikes. Most traditional hand cleaning gels have ingredients like alcohols, synthetic fragrances, and other chemicals I’d like my young kiddos to avoid.

We have stopped using conventional hand gels the past couple of years, and now we just make our our hand cleansing sprays using doTERRA essential oils. So I’m here today to share how you can make this easy and economical hand cleansing spray. The great thing is, this spray also doubles as a throat soothing spray if you have some throat discomfort.

*For the record, I bought the hand gels because his classroom shares community supplies, but I’ll be sending a hand cleansing spray for him in his lunchbox so he can use it before lunch. Sometimes, the situation isn’t perfect, but we do what we can.*

doTERRA OnGuard Hand Cleansing Spray

Ingredients:

1 (2 ounce) glass or stainless steel spray bottle

10 drops of doTERRA OnGuard essential oil

Water

Directions:

1. Place the drops of OnGuard in the spray bottle.

2. Top with water.

3. Put on the spray cap, and give it a good shake before each use.

4. Enjoy! Use this to cleanse your hands, the shopping cart, tables at restaurants, airport bathrooms, and any other surface that seems a little sketchy.

Notes:

1. If you are currently out of OnGuard (this has happened to me before), you can use Melaleuca in a pinch, but OnGuard is definitely my first choice for this spray.

2. If you’re feeling fancy, you can add a squirt of witch hazel to the mix, but I normally do without unless I happen to have witch hazel on hand.

3. You can now find all your essential oil supply needs on mydoterra.com/amandagerber

Here are some great ways to use doTERRA OnGuard essential oil blend. What is your favorite way to use this oil?

Essential Oils for Gardening: Pest Control

Confession Time: I had neglected my garden for a week, y’all. I didn’t water it, didn’t go out and give it any love for a week. When I came back to check on the progress, I found a few disappointing (but inevitable) issues. My cucumbers were not doing well. It looked totally dead, and it was covered in ants. My zucchinis were turning yellow and there were a LOT of squash bugs covering the plants. Surprisingly my tomatoes and bell peppers still looked vibrant. So, if you want to plant something hardy that doesn’t need a lot of attention, plant tomatoes and bell peppers. I knew I had to do something to address all these problems. The first thing I did was water the garden to bring some life back to it. Then I started doing some research on a natural alternative to pest control.

So, I did a quick Google search. “Essential oils for gardening pests.” Lots of results popped up. I scanned different searches and came up with a concoction based on what I had in my case. I grabbed an empty 8 ounce spray bottle and started filling it up with various doTERRA essential oils.

I went out and sprayed my garden, I used the whole bottle on my entire garden. I came back the next day pleasantly surprised. The squash bugs were completely gone and the ants in my cucumber bed had decreased. Ants are a pretty constant problem here in South Texas, so this wasn’t too surprising that they weren’t totally gone.

I’ve gone out this week and continued to lightly spray our plants every few days, and I am so pleased to have found a natural solution to my garden pest problem. Bonus: I’ve still seen ladybugs and bees happily flying about, so it still allows for the good bugs in your garden to do their thing. Are you ready for my recipe?

doTERRA Gardening Pest Control Spray

7 drops doTERRA Basil

7 drops doTERRA Eucalyptus

7 drops doTERRA Peppermint

Fill the remainder of your bottle with water.

Feel free to adjust this recipe based on your needs. If you’re seeing a lot of pests, you may want to add a few more drops of essential oil, or spray more often. You can also take additional measures of pest control, like planting marigolds or various herbs around your garden to deter pests.

I’d love to hear from you! How do you naturally provide your garden with pest control?

After Sun Spray with doTERRA Essential Oils

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! He is risen! We had a blast at our house, and our weekend was filled with Easter festivities. It was also filled with sunshine. We went to an outdoor Easter egg hunt with lots of fun things for the kids to do like a petting zoo, train ride, and bounce house. My boys wanted to make sure they participated in every single activity there was, and by the end of the day I ended up looking like a lobster.

With summer months approaching, I wanted to make sure I made an “After Sun Spray” and kept it handy for times like this. This spray will help to soothe and cool your skin that was exposed too long to the sun. It uses oils like Lavender, Melaleuca (tea tree), and Frankincense which are wonderful at soothing skin irritations, and help to purify the skin. I’ve also added Peppermint essential oil to the mix because it really works to cool your skin.

I’ve mentioned this before, but I use doTERRA essential oils. It’s a brand I love and trust enough to use on my entire family. I highly encourage everyone to do their research and choose a brand with high standards and purity you can feel confident using on your family.

This spray can be used for all sorts of skin irritations; like overexposure to the sun, bug bites, minor burns and scrapes, and rashes. We use some version of this spray almost daily in my home. It’s so simple to make, and easy to use!

*Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. I am a mom of 4 kids who is passionate about holistic health, and I am simply sharing a recipe your family can enjoy as well. This is not meant to treat, cure, or diagnose a disease.*

Stop Waiting. Start Doing: Overcoming Fear by Taking Action

Starting something new can be scary. I’ve been wanting to start a YouTube channel for a few months now, but I’ve been too nervous to begin. I dealt with a lot of doubt and fear. I’ve gotten really good at making up excuses.

I don’t have a fancy camera to take a quality video.

I can’t think of somewhere in the house with good lighting that I can take a video without the kids jumping in it or their toys being all over the place.

I don’t know anything about editing or adding cool graphics. How do I learn about that?

What if I run out of things to talk about?

How often should I do a video? Once a day, once a week, a few times a week?

How long should my videos be? 3 minutes or 30 minutes?

I don’t wear make-up most days. Am I gonna have to do my hair and make-up every day I do a video?

What if no one likes or subscribes to my channel?

What if I fail?

Please tell me someone can relate to this! I’ve talked myself out of doing this so much, but think about it almost daily. YouTube has become my Google. When I want to learn a recipe or how to plant strawberries, I don’t go to Google anymore. I go to YouTube. So I thought to myself: Well, I have a website already with information to the public, I should start a YouTube and provide that information in video form. It just makes sense logically, it’s my doubts that get in the way.

The truth is, I am still struggling with many of those questions. I still have my doubts about the quality of the video. There is still the fact that I have no experience in graphic design, video editing, or anything other than shooting video for my kids on my iPhone… But I just decided to let that go. I don’t think I’ll be regretting starting my YouTube channel with my lack of experience. I think in the long run, I would regret not starting at all. I would regret letting my fears take over in this area of my life, and if my fear is winning in one area of my life it’s pretty much a guarantee it’s winning in another area.

 <– A monumental moment!

So, how do you overcome your fear? By taking action… Go write that book, go shoot your vlog, go take those dance lessons. Whatever you’ve been waiting to start: Stop waiting. Start doing.

How about it? What are you going to start today?

P.S. I’d be so grateful if you’d go and check out my video an future videos. My channel is my name, Amanda Gerber. This first video is called: Amanda Gerber: Introduction Video and doTERRA Essential Oil Tips.

Soothe and Support Muscles with doTERRA

One thing I’m really passionate about is education. I love all things about it: the research, the collaboration research, and the execution of the research. I think that’s why I love teaching about doTERRA essential oils every week. Something that I’ve started doing with my team is a weekly Facebook Live video covering a different topic. This week was soothing and supporting your muscles with doTERRA. I thought it would be fun if I shared my weekly topic with you guys too! Now, this won’t be nearly as in depth as my videos, as they are usually around 20-30 minutes long, but you’ll still benefit from it. Let’s chat oils!

But first! Disclaimer: I am not a healthcare professional. I’m a mom who loves research and has seen many benefits from these essential oils. I’m simply sharing with you how your family can benefit as well. This information is not meant to treat, diagnose, or replace medical advise.

Something I always start with before ever diving into doTERRA products is to make sure you’re giving your body a good foundation. What does that mean exactly? Get an adequate amount of sleep (this varies from person to person), drink plenty of water (half your body weight in ounces), and eat a healthy variety of food (vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, ancient grains, etc). Set that healthy foundation for yourself!

Got that covered? Want to know what else you can do for your body to help soothe those aches and pains? Well, let me tell ya!

Lifelong Vitality Pack (LLV): This product is my answer for almost every health concern someone asks me about: Sleep support? LLV. Uplift energy level? LLV. Emotional balance? LLV. Immune support? LLV. What exactly is the LLV? In a nutshell: it’s all natural, whole food supplements containing vitamins, minerals, and omegas… Basically it’s life changing, and I’m not exaggerating. I’ll be doing a post on this soon because it deserves a post and you deserve to know about it.

Deep Blue (Soothing Blend): Y’all I’m not an essential oil expert. I have a book that’s the expert at telling me what products to use, and this book tells me that doTERRA Deep Blue is one of the top oils to be used with any sort of pain related issue from headaches to muscles to joints. Deep Blue is a blend of Wintergreen, Camphor Bark, Peppermint, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, Helichrysum, and Osmanthus oil. This oil can be applied neat (without dilution), but if you know your skin is sensitive to peppermint or wintergreen, you probably want to dilute as you put on the area of concern. You can use this oil as needed, but definitely before and after workouts to help with post workout soreness. I love using this after yoga!

DB on sheet

Lavender: Lavender is an oil that everyone should have in their homes. It’s a very universal oil, meaning it can be used for practically anything: immune support, mood support, sleep support, you name it! It can be used topically, internally, and aromatically. (Please note: I only recommend doTERRA essential oils. Yes, I sell these oils, but I used the product for over a year before ever diving in the business and it was the one brand I trusted at that time as well.) Lavender oil is great for soreness and can be used topically on the area of concern. For most people, you can use this oil “neat,” meaning without dilution.

Lemongrass: Lemongrass is such an interesting oil. It always surprises me in its uses! This oil can ease joint discomfort, and should be used topically for that purpose. Now, some people are sensitive to lemongrass (like my hubs who won’t let me forget the time I didn’t dilute it for him), so dilute accordingly. You can use this as needed, multiple times a day on the area of concern. The cool thing about lemongrass is that you can also clean with it, diffuse it to purify the air, and even use it for a natural bug repellent.

Marjoram: This oil is wonderful to use before and after workouts. It’s commonly used to soothe those discomforts related to muscles and joints. Marjoram can also be used to promote a healthy cardiovascular system and a healthy immune system. doTERRA Marjoram oil can be used internally, in a diffuser to take advantage of its natural calming properties, or topically. You can dilute with fractionated coconut oil for any skin sensitivities, and apply directly on the pain.

Are you ready to get started using doTERRA essential oils? You can order the oils HERE, and I’ll be with ya, every step of the way to answer any questions! If you begin with one of doTERRA’s start kits, I’ll send you a fun Welcome Gift!

Wednesday doTERRA BOGO: DigestZen & Marjoram

Obviously, I have had a heck of a day since I’m just now at almost 9:00pm getting around to posting the BOGO of the day. But, you’ll forgive me, right? So, I’ll be quick about it. Today only if you purchase doTERRA DigestZen oil, you’ll receive a free bottle of Marjoram oil. Amazing!

bogo-dz-marj

Now, DigestZen saved my life about 127 times while I was pregnant with baby Sarah. During my third trimester my heart would burn every time after eating, which would then be followed with lovely burps that would burn as well (I know, very ladylike). I was miserable, but then I started using DigestZen in a veggie capsule after each meal. Y’all, it was like the skies opened and angels sang down heavenly tunes. I had so much relief, and in return got much more sleep at night, because it had gotten so bad I was waking up at night. Moral of the story: If you need any sort of digestive support, DigestZen is your best friend.

Now, I’ll be honest, Marjoram I don’t have as much experience with, but when I have used it, I liked it. I like to pair it with Peppermint oil and use for aches and pains. It’s great after working out or if you’ve been doing lots of manual labor, like getting a garden ready that you’re super excited to blog about soon. It’s a good one to have in your arsenal when your muscles are crying out to ya!

So, don’t miss this opportunity. Go to mydoterra.com/amandagerber and as always, feel free to reach out to me with any essential oil questions! Now, I’m gonna enjoy this glass of ginger kombucha while my kids are sleeping. Good night!

Minty Fresh: Spearmint and Peppermint

As promised, I come to you today to reveal today’s doTERRA BOGO. *Drum roll, please.* Today if you buy 1 bottle of Spearmint get 1 bottle of Peppermint oil FREE. Remember, this deal will only last one day so get it while it’s hot! Speaking of hot, be advised that these oils may be too “hot” to apply straight on to those that have sensitive skin. You’ll want to dilute both of these oils for younger kids, and those with sensitive skin.

bogo-spear-pep

Spearmint is a great oil to have in your arsenal. You can use Spearmint topically (dilute when needed), internally, and aromatically as well. It was be used aromatically in your diffuser to uplift the mood in the air. It pairs lovely with Tangerine oil, and other citrus oils. Spearmint is also helpful at assisting you at releasing negative emotions and beliefs. You can use spearmint topically to support a healthy digestive system. You can use spearmint in your cooking as well, whether it’s just adding flavor to your water by adding a drop to your glass or using it in sauces and salads.

tangermint-soap

Peppermint is an essential oil I never run out of in our home. We use it daily. My kids don’t respond well to seasonal changes, and when the watery eyes, coughing, and runny noses start I blend Peppermint with Lemon and Lavender and apply it daily. My husband takes that exact combination in a pill form every day, especially when he is spending lots of time outdoors. If you need a pick me up in the morning, diffusing Peppermint and Wild Orange helps to perk you up. That combination was a life saver for me when I was pregnant and not drinking caffeine. It really helped to wake me up in the morning! You can also use Peppermint to help with digestive issues by rubbing some on your stomach, or taking a drop of two internally. The uses for Peppermint are endless!
