doTERRA March Promos

Hey y’all! Have you seen doTERRA’s promo that they have going on in March? They are pretty awesome. If you don’t want to miss out on a freebie oil, then check this out.

Product of the Month (POM): Did you know that doTERRA offers a FREE Product of the Month, every single month? All you have to do is place a qualifying Loyalty Rewards order, and this product will automatically be added to your cart. No promo code needed.

The POM for this month is an essential oil that I use every single day: Grapefruit! I love Grapefruit for so many reasons. You can use Grapefruit topically, internally, and aromatically. One of the main ways I use this oil is by drinking 2 drops in my water every day. Grapefruit is great for supporting your metabolism, and supporting your body in eliminating toxins… and it tastes great in sparkling water! Remember, when taking essential oils internally, please note that I only recommend using doTERRA and you only want to drink the oil in glass or stainless steel. You can also use Grapefruit in your diffuser to uplift the mood in your home, and try adding Peppermint if you need a little help keeping your energy going. You can also use Grapefruit topically on your skin to improve the appearance of blemishes. Be sure to only do this at night, because you want to avoid the sun after applying citrus oils since they are photosensitive.

Highlighted Product: doTERRA also highlights a product every month where you can receive 10% off. Yes, if you have a wholesale account, that is 10% ON TOP OF your wholesale discount. So awesome! This month you can receive Cypress at a discounted price.  Cypress can be used aromatically or topically, but not internally. I used this oil daily during my last pregnancy. It’s great for supporting a healthy circulation, so I would apply 2 drops with some Fractionated Coconut Oil and massage my right leg. My veins would instantly calm down and the discomfort would reduce greatly. You can also use Cypress oil to help improve the appearance of oily skin. We also like using Cypress in our diffuser to promote vitality and energy. The smell is amazing, and blends well with Eucalyptus and Peppermint.

Happy Valentine’s Day: Intimacy Blends

Hey y’all! I know this is quite unusual for me to do TWO blog posts back to back, but I wanted to give you a couple of blends you may want to us tonight. These two blends are intended to help support a healthy libido, so if you need a little help getting in the mood tonight, try it out! They can also help encourage a healthy emotional connection between you and your significant other.

I’ll go more in depth about these particular doTERRA essential oils, why they work to encourage intimacy, and how they work together in a later post. I just thought y’all might want these for tonight.

You can put the drops listed below in a roller bottle, top with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil and roll on pulse points as needed. If you are struggling to emotionally or physically connect with your spouse on a regular basis, then you might want to consider making these oils a part of your daily routine to help build that connection.

Here ya go!

P.S. These are not my original recipes. I got these from The Essential Life book, but I did make these cute graphics!

What’s your go-to essential oil for inspiring intimacy?

My Favorite Essential Oil: Frankincense

Frankincense is my favorite essential oil. It’s rightly called “the king of oils,” and was a gift to baby Jesus along with gold and myrrh. Hey, if it’s good enough for Him, it’s good enough for me. That alone speaks so much about the value of this oil.

You can use doTERRA Frankincense essential oil topically, aromatically, and internally. Remember, when using essential oils on infants dilute 1 drop of essential oil to 1 tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil (FCO). Frankincense also has the ability to magnify the effect of other essential oils, so throughout this post you’ll notice I’ll give suggested pairings along the way.

Overall Health: For overall health, I like to take 1 drop of frankincense under my tongue every day. This oil is packed with antioxidants and will support brain and cellular health.

Immune Support: I have what I call a “FLOOM BOMB.” In a roller bottle, I put 3-5 drops each of Frankincense, Lemon, OnGuard, Oregano, and Melaleuca and top it off with FCO. This combination is like magic. I roll it on my spine and the bottom of my feet when I’m feeling under the weather, and I’m back on my feet the next day. It’s also soothing for your scratchy throat. Just roll on over your throat and massage over your lymph nodes.

Anti-Aging: Frankincense is packed with anti-aging properties and is a powerhouse when paired with Myrrh. You can make your own blend in a roller bottle, or check out doTERRA’s Immortelle Anti-Aging blend. It’s got Frankincense, Myrrh, Lavender, Rose, and Sandalwood. Fine lines and wrinkles don’t stand a chance.

Emotional/Mood Support: If you deal with mood swings, sadness, or anxious feelings then you should definitely be diffusing frankincense in your home. When I need my mood to be uplifted I diffuser Lemon and Frankincense. If you need to reduce anxious feelings and calm your emotions, try diffusing Lavender and Frankincense. It’s a great blend for sleep as well!

Soothing Tension & Soreness: You can use Frankincense for head tension and for muscle soreness. For head tension, apply Frankincense, Lavender, and Peppermint where you’re feeling discomfort. For sore muscles, combine Frankincense and Deep Blue and massage into your muscles.

These are just a few ways you can start using doTERRA Frankincense in your home. For those of you looking to get started using essential oils, doTERRA has some really cool specials this month! You can save BIG with one of their starter kits! Want more details? Check out all their starter kits HERE.

Now, did you learn something new? What’s your favorite way to use frankincense?

Essential Oils for Thyroid Support

I like to meet up with people over coffee and chat about how doTERRA essential oils can help them (and you!) reach their health goals. It’s one of my favorite things to do. I love watching the lightbulb come on as we talk about how the oils work, how to use them, and bettering their families health. (P.S. We can always meet up virtually for coffee if you’re interested in a free wellness consultation.)

One of the issues that has come up in the past is thyroid support. There have been a handful of people that come my way that ask if essential oils can support their thyroid. The answer is yes. The answer is through consistent use of essential oils and a healthy lifestyle, your body will take care of itself. So I’ve done some research on this, and chatted with friends who use doTERRA for their thyroid and I have a blend I’d like to share with you today.

doTERRA Blend for Thyroid Support

  1. Frankincense
  2. Myrrh
  3. Clove
  4. Lemongrass

What I do is fill up an empty rollerbottle about halfway or slightly less with the essential oils. Then top the rollerbottle with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil. Give it a little shake to mix up all the essential oils. Use this blend topically over your thyroid 2-3 times a day. Consistency is key with essential oils. Don’t just use it for a week and stop. Do this consistently for a couple of months and then decide if it’s something you need to incorporate into your everyday routine. There are a few other suggestions I’d like to give, and I’ll discuss further about in later posts.

doTERRA Daily Protocol for Optimal Health

  1. Lifelong Vitality Pack: I recommend this for everyone. The Lifelong Vitality Pack is filled with whole food and all natural vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to give your body a solid foundation.
  2. Frankincense & Copiaba: These two together are unstoppable. I’ve started incorporating taking these two essential oils internally, in a veggie capsule, every day. They are amazing at immune support, brain health, emotional support, and about a billion other things.
  3. Citrus oils in Water: doTERRA citrus oils, like Lemon or Grapefruit, will not only make your water taste good, but benefit your overall health. Also, tasty water will make you more likely to hydrate, so drink up! Be sure you’re drinking your water in glass or stainless steel when using doTERRA essential oils.

doTERRA has some pretty sweet deals this month for every new wholesale customer. I’ve also got an awesome welcome kit with your name on it! You can check it all out all of doTERRA’s Starter Kits HERE, and score big on savings!

Do you have a natural way of supporting your thyroid? I’d love to know. Sharing is caring, so be sure to share with any friends that need to give their thyroid a little extra love today.

Friday Fun Facts #12

1. So, we are potty training Timmy right now. A note of advice: be prepared for accidents. It’s not a matter of if they will happen, but when they will happen.

2. The other day when Nathan went out to feed the chickens, he came back with these eggs. Check out the extra LONG egg!

3. On super busy days, I’ve learned to multitask. Doing my workout and listening to a personal development documentary at the same time. I really like this workout DVD: Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30. The personal development DVD is called The Rise of the Entrepreneur by Eric Worre. Good stuff!

4. Today at Lowe’s, we passed by the riding lawnmowers. Noah spotted the John Deere and said, “Nothing runs like a Deere!” (Too bad his Pops drives a Kubota!).

5. I went to the post office this week to mail out essential oil samples with all my boys. We had rules: Listen to mommy and hold hands. Well, I had to let go of the big boys hands while I was paying for the shipping and holding Isaac on my hip. The boys decided it would be appropriate to spin around all in circles and sing “Ring Around the Rosie.” At least the old couple behind us thought it was cute.

Wild Orange Essential Oil GIVEAWAY!

As promised, today begins my weekly essential oil giveaway. The essential oil that I am giving away today is Wild Orange (citrus sinensis) oil. I chose this essential oil because it is great for people just beginning to use oils, and it has many benefits. It was one of my first oils to use, and I always have it on hand.

This particular Wild Orange essential oil is cold pressed from the orange peel and is sourced from the Dominican Republic. It has a sweet and fresh aroma that is loved by many. The oil is commonly used for energizing and revitalizing. It is also uplifting not only physically, but mentally as well. A great way to use this oil is in the diffuser to boost the mood of the room, as well as clean the air. Many citrus oils are great to use when cleaning because of their natural cleansing and purifying properties.

Wild Orange essential oil can not only be used aromatically, but also topically and internally as well. It tastes wonderful in your water, and I love applying it to the back of my neck when I need a little midday pick-me-up. Please take note: Citrus oils are photosensitive so if you use them topically be sure and wait a couple of hours before heading outdoors or place on an area of your body that will be covered with clothing.

How do I use Wild Orange oil?
• Diffusing daily with peppermint to lift my mood and freshen the air.
• I clean with Wild Orange and Lemon oil in my kitchen and bathroom. I just add a couple drops of each to 8 oz. of water and get to cleaning!
• Add 1 drop to 8 oz. of ice water for a refreshing beverage.

So, how can you get your hands on this amazing oil? You can be entered to win up to 2 times. First, comment below on why you’d like to try this amazing oil. Then if you want an additional entry, follow my blog via Facebook. This giveaway will be opened through Sunday until midnight, and I will announce the winner on Monday.

DIY Bath Salts

Who has put off getting their mother a gift for Mother’s Day until the very last minute? I know some of you have! Well, tonight I am going to give you an idea for a Mother’s Day gift that is friendly on your wallet, but sure to please any mom. Today, we’re making bath salts! A gift that will force your mom to relax and enjoy a long, luxurious bath.

I have made my own bath salts for quite some time now, almost a year now. I actually started making bath salts shortly after having Isaac, our 10 month old, because I was in constant discomfort after delivering him. My body was healing very slowly and it hurt to stand, it hurt to lay down, it hurt to walk; you get the idea, it was a really rough first month! A friend of mine suggested bathing in Epsom salts with essential oils that were known for assisting the body in healing after childbirth: helichrysum (known for its restorative properties), lavender (known for its soothing properties), and frankincense (known for its many healing properties). That was the first time I found relief, and after a week of adding this to my routine I was feeling great. I fell in love with the combination of Epsom salts and essential oils and use them together regularly, for much more than postpartum healing.  You can use them for relaxation (Lavender), aiding with sore muscles (Peppermint), or clearing up congestion (Peppermint and/or Eucalyptus). For more information on how to provide your family with quality essential oils, feel free to email me at info@amandagerber.com.

bath salts

So, here we go. You only need a few things to get started.

Ingredients:
– 2 cups Epsom salts
– 10 drops essential oils, your choice
– Glass jar for storage
– Label, ribbon, or any embellishment you want to add

Directions:
– Mix to Epsom salts and essential oils together in a glass bowl
– Transfer to your glass jar and seal tightly
– Label and decorate to your creative abilities
– I like to add dried lavender or dried citrus peels for a pop of color.
– Use ½ cup-1 cup per bath

Ta-da! The perfect gift made out of love. If you want to add a little more glam, consider adding an all natural lotion, lip balm or soap for the perfect pampering present. Have fun y’all!

Have you made your own bath salts before?  What are your favorite oils to add?

Mother’s Day Giveaway!

Today I am going to introduce to you my favorite essential oil blend from my trusted company: Grounding blend. Just thinking about it makes me relax in my chair. The Grounding Blend is a blend of spruce needle/leaf, ho wood, frankincense, blue tansy flower, and blue chamomile flower essential oils in a base of coconut oil. It’s got the nice woodsy, sweet smell to it that makes you want to breathe it in for days.

I use this oil every single day. I put it in my diffuser (along with a citrus oil) and it has helped my mid-afternoon grumpiness craziness I am prone to. Also, it’s already diluted with coconut oil so if one of my kidos is having a meltdown I can pour a drop in my hand and rub it right on their feet or chest. So between myself and my boys (remember 4 years old and under here) we go through about a bottle a minute! Just kidding… but you get the point; it’s that amazing!

From my own personal experience I can honestly say this has helped me recover after the birth of my children as well as keep my anxious feelings at bay. I can start to feel when I’m getting stressed, and mentally as well as physically I start to get tense; so I’ll grab my bottle and put some of the Grounding Blend on my feet, or even just smell the bottle and it calms me down.

This oil, in my opinion, is a must have for every mom. Remember, you can email me at info@amandagerber.com to get the oils in your home, but what I’m doing today is a Mother’s Day Giveaway. I want to give away a bottle of this amazing blend to a deserving mom. So, what do I need from you? Leave a comment below of a mom you would like to nominate to win this bottle and why they should win (go ahead and brag on them! Let them know they are loved!). This will be open today through Friday (May 8, 2015) ending at 11:59PM. I will announce the winner on Saturday.

Share below and she could be the lucky winner!

Mother’s Day Brownies

As promised, I am going to give you another post related to Mother’s Day. Today my post is going to be in the form of recipe (not for mom to make, but for you to make for her!). Can you guess what my recipe will contain? My two favorite ingredients: chocolate and essential oils. Yummm…

So, these are actually gluten free brownies that are moist and yummy and full of fiber! Fiber in brownies?!? How is that even possible? Two words for you: Black. Beans. Now, don’t you crinkle your nose at me. I just made this and tried it out on unsuspecting guests with great results. My husband actually liked it, but admitted he would like it a little sweeter (an easy fix!). Honestly I did not expect to like these brownies, but I love them. I am going to give you the original recipe that I followed from doterrablog.com and feel free to tweak it according to your taste buds.

Ingredients
1 15 ounce can black beans, drained, and rinsed (Trust me, just do it!)
2 large eggs
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2/3 cup honey (I actually used half honey and half agave)
1/3 cup coconut oil
½ teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
4 drops Peppermint essential oil
¾ cup chocolate chips, divided

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Place all ingredients, except for chocolate chips, in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
3. Stir in ½ cup chocolate chips.
4. Pour into greased 8×8 inch pan and top with the remaining chocolate chips (don’t skip this step, this is what made the brownies perfect).
5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean (mine took 40 minutes). Let cool (or not! We dug right in when it was still warm and it didn’t make a huge mess, just a little one.) and cut into pieces. Store in the fridge if you haven’t devoured the entire pan.

Notes
– Y’all, this is my new favorite dessert. I love it and I don’t have to feel guilty about having two three brownies. This would be a dessert a mom on a diet could actually eat. It’s awesome.
– At first bite I thought it could be a tad sweeter, but once I took another bite I realized it was just the right amount of sweet for me. From my personal reviews everyone liked the brownies, but a couple of people could use a touch more sweetness.
– This is a very versatile recipe: you can use the peppermint essential oil, or cinnamon, or clove, or simply leave the oil out of the dish. Play around and have some fun with it!
