Friday Fun Facts #12

1. So, we are potty training Timmy right now. A note of advice: be prepared for accidents. It’s not a matter of if they will happen, but when they will happen.

2. The other day when Nathan went out to feed the chickens, he came back with these eggs. Check out the extra LONG egg!

3. On super busy days, I’ve learned to multitask. Doing my workout and listening to a personal development documentary at the same time. I really like this workout DVD: Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30. The personal development DVD is called The Rise of the Entrepreneur by Eric Worre. Good stuff!

4. Today at Lowe’s, we passed by the riding lawnmowers. Noah spotted the John Deere and said, “Nothing runs like a Deere!” (Too bad his Pops drives a Kubota!).

5. I went to the post office this week to mail out essential oil samples with all my boys. We had rules: Listen to mommy and hold hands. Well, I had to let go of the big boys hands while I was paying for the shipping and holding Isaac on my hip. The boys decided it would be appropriate to spin around all in circles and sing “Ring Around the Rosie.” At least the old couple behind us thought it was cute.

Friday Fun Facts #11

** This is going to be a different kind of Friday Fun Facts post. Today I have one longer fact to share, but I’m sure you’ll love this post just as much as the others. Enjoy!**

We were at Camp Zephyr this week and we had a blast. While Nathan was hosting Kids’ Camp, the boys and I would go “exploring.” So we’d walk the campgrounds and spend most of that time in the Prayer Garden and the surrounding wooded area.

They tried catching frogs and grasshoppers. The boys got to see dragonflies, bunny rabbits (that they insisted be called “Bunny Foo-Foo”), and swallows’ nests. The first time we went to the Prayer Garden, Noah saw the wooden cross near the water, and that’s how this conversation began:

Noah: “Mom, is Jesus here?”
Me: “Yes, He’s here.”
Noah: “Then why can’t I see him?”
Me: “Because we don’t always see Jesus, but we have faith and know He is with us.”
Noah: “But I want to see Him! Can I pray to see Jesus?” By now my eyes are welling up with tears, y’all.
Me: “Sure, sweetie.”

So my Noah closes his eyes and starts praying. Timothy follows suit once he sees Noah praying and squints his eyes shut and fold his hands. You better believe I was praying to see Jesus too!

Noah (opens his eyes and sighs): “Mom, it didn’t work.”
Me: “Well, honey, sometimes when we pray for things, we have to wait for God’s timing.”
Noah: “We have to wait! But waiting is hard!”
Me: “I know, but Noah, I promise one day we WILL see Jesus.”
Noah: “Ok! Then I’ll wait!”

And just like that goes back to running and playing. Oh, that I would have faith like my 4 year old. Psalm 8:2 “Through the praise of children and infants You have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.”

Don’t you love the lessons we learn from our children?

Friday Fun Facts #10

1. I went to Sprouts on Monday to gather ingredients to make granola (recipe soon!). As I was attempting to unlock my car I spend a good 3 minutes trying to open the door with my key until I realized… This car actually had its hubcaps, unlike my car. #notmycar

2. Noah and I were waiting in the doctor’s office for his yearly appointment (only 4 months late) and playing I Spy. He guessed my object on the first guess (legitimately, okay. I did not just give it to him). Then he says, “Moooomm, that was not hard at all!” I guess I need to step up my game.

3. This probably isn’t the greatest idea, but actually paying someone for a massage is not in the budget right now. So, what did I do as a free alternative? I got my boys to alternate walking on my back. Like I said, not the greatest idea, but not the worst!

4. I sleep much better when my husband is home. When he was gone last week it took me FOREVER to fall asleep, one night I was awake until 3:00AM. I am so glad he back! #youthpastorlife #youthpastorswife

5. This week, Isaac learned to say “ball” and “banana.” He is growing up so fast. 🙂

Friday Fun Facts #9

1. My baby boy turned 1 this week. I seriously have no idea how that happened. Also, today he said “mama” for the first time. Excuse me while I go cry in a corner.

2. Nathan preached this past Father’s Day at our church, and rocked it. It really just makes me fall in love with him all over again when he preaches God’s truth.

3. The other night Timmy came running out of his room saying “Too loud, too loud! Woof woof!” I had to sit in on his bed with him for 5 minutes to figure out the problem. They have a Melissa & Doug Sound Puzzle (zoo animal themed) and sometimes it has a mind of its own. The lion kept roaring and scaring Timmy. I ended up taking the entire puzzle out of the room so the poor kid could sleep.

4. Noah has such a vivid imagination. He loves to make up stories: in the car, when he’s in bed and supposed to be napping, and even when he’s going potty. The crazy thing is, we all had imaginations like that when we were kids… When did our creativity get crushed? Let’s bring it back!

5. While brushing Tim’s teeth the other night, I thought I saw a cavity. I gasped, brushed where I saw it, and I was relieved to find out that it was just a chia seed. Gotta love those granola balls, y’all.

Friday Fun Facts #8

1. Isaac is a dancing fool. If you put on his jam (If You’re Happy and You Know It) be prepared to laugh so hard you think you’ll pee your pants. It’s that funny.

2. I found a rock in the kids’ laundry hamper this week… and a Lego… and a puzzle piece.

3. Only 2 of our 4 hens are laying. I am seriously debating on making some fresh fried chicken.

4. So I made this ridiculously awesome bruschetta the other day. I’ll just leave this picture up here for your viewing pleasure.  Don’t worry, I will post the recipe next week!

5. Week 3 of the Wellness Challenge has proven to be a difficult one. Due to weather conditions… and other conditions that don’t need to be discussed on this blog… I’ve had a ridiculously tough time staying motivated. Any tips?

Friday Fun Facts #7

1. Monday morning after breakfast I had a little freak out over a roach I saw on the floor in our dining room. I finally got up the nerve to kill it, raised my foot high to stomp on it and hopefully make that disgusting “crunch” go by quickly… and I realized it was a raisin. I screamed at a raisin.

2. My sweet 4 year old, Noah, had this interesting conversation with Uncle Kyle the other day.
Noah: “Kyle, how do babies get out of their mommy’s tummies?”
Kyle (without even a moment’s hesitation): “They go to the hospital, and then the baby comes out.”
Noah: “Oh, ok! Want to play in my tent?!”

3. Isaac refuses to say “mama.” Every time I ask him to he says “dada” and even emphasizes the syllables as if he wants to make sure I know he’s not saying it! He sure is cute though.

4. Our public library was having a reptile exhibit earlier this week, and I attempted to take all the boys, without back up (aka my mother) to a library that I’m pretty sure was beyond the limits of its maximum occupancy capacity. We saw one snake and then left for ice cream before I ended up losing a child in the madness.  On the bright side, the boys still thought it was cool and were hissing like a snack the entire car ride home.

5. I’m going to start doing a WEEKLY essential oil/essential oil product giveaway. Yay! It won’t always be on the same day every week, so be sure to check in during the week so you won’t miss it. You can always follow my blog or social media site to stay updated as well! I will give you a heads up that the giveaway post will be TOMORROW for this week. See ya then!

Friday Fun Facts #6

1. So, I started a wellness/fitness challenge with some girlfriends this month. I’ve been working out every day this week and I am so stinkin’ sore! Peppermint essential oil is my best friend right now because it’s able to soothe the occasional muscle ache.

2. This week is also VBS at our church. It’s my first time to actually work a VBS because, well, I love my kids, but have a hard time with other people’s kids. I kinda lucked out because I’m known as “the oil lady,” and I am at a tent where the kids make homemade lavender hand scrubs. So, I get to smell lavender all day and talk about Jesus to little ones. It worked out nicely.

vbs2

3. On that note, my boys get to hang out at VBS too. It is an incredible feeling to watch them sing and dance for Jesus… I was hiding in the back where they couldn’t see me watching them and my heart was overflowing with joy.

4. The other day while I was sitting in our recliner, Noah wanted to sit in my lap. Well of course, after Tim saw Noah in my lap then he wanted to be in my lap. And then Isaac started whimpering because he realized he was missing out, so I ended up with all 3 boys in my lap for a good 30 minutes. It was a tight squeeze, but a sweet moment.

5. When we sing “If you’re happy and you know it,” little Isaac started singing “Hooray!” and throwing his hands in the air. I can’t believe how fast he is growing!

Friday Fun Facts #5

1. We have backyard chickens again! After a chicken massacre a couple of months ago, we went without chickens for a while. Thanks to our friends Ginger and Steve for giving us a few of their laying hens!

2. The boys are so cute to watch with their newborn cousin, Hannah (who Noah lovingly calls “Hannah Banana”). They will tiptoe quietly in her room, whisper back and forth to each other and then as soon as they get out of her room, they go back to jumping and squealing.

3. Timothy decided to redecorate their room during naptime. Note to self: Just because he is quiet, it doesn’t necessarily mean he is sleeping!

4. Lavender and Vetiver essential oils smell amazing together and do wonders for peaceful sleeping! My husband, who can be a little picky about essential oil scents, really liked this combination diffusing the other day when he got home.

5. Speaking of my husband, he preached this past Sunday morning and did and AMAZING job. Something magical happens when you are able to witness watching your spouse live out their calling. I highly encourage you to try and observe your spouse in “their element,” whether that’s in the ministry, wood working, managing a business, ect. It deepens your appreciation for them and reminds you of all the reasons you fell in love with them in the first place.

Friday Fun Facts #4

1. So the other day I took out the boys’ coloring supplies, which included crayons and markers. I went to clean the kitchen and when I came back Isaac had blue hair.

2. This past weekend as the stomach bug hit my family one by one, at the end of it I wished I would get the stomach bug so I could lay in bed for 2 days. Is that bad? Surely, I’m not the only mom to think this before!

3. Timmy likes to eat the entire strawberry including the green tops. More fiber, I guess!

4. When I asked Noah what he learned at church he said, “Our God is an amazing God!”

5. Peeling paper off of broken crayons can entertain toddlers for over half an hour… but does make quite a mess. Hopefully, I’ll have a post about recycled crayons soon.
